Some questions of elimination of illiteracy among tatars in the first years of the Soviet power (the case of TASSR)

The article considers some aspects of conducting elimination of illiteracy – one of large-scale campaigns held by the young Soviet state in the first years in power. Forms and ways of its implementation in the conditions of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (TASSR) are specified. The article also focuses on the textbooks and methodical manuals for Tatar schools and on illumination of the issue on the pages of Tatar newspapers.
