The first world war through the eyes of Tatar soldiers

The article presents the everyday lives of Tatar soldiers during World War I. Analysis was conducted using a wide range of sources: soldiers’ letters, folklore, literary works by soldiers-writers and publications in the press, as well as official documents. In the Russian Empire, the Tatar people were considered as a national minority. Tatar soldiers Due to their religion and language, Tatar soldiers were distinguished from the larger the army. The study reviewed the attitudes the Tatar soldiers towards the difficulties of military life, their mentality, religious issues, and relationships in a small group.
