The article examines the time, place and history of the appearance of photos of the Tatar students who studied at European educational institutions in the early twentieth century with Sadri Maksudi. This photo was published in 1914 in the Vakyt newspaper. The desire to receive secular education by Tatars was determined by the development of industry, which required well-educated specialists in the field of technology. They streamed to universities of Europe and America to get education which was aligned with the times. Sadri Maksudi, who graduated from a University of Paris, supported the striving of Tatar youth to knowledge and training in advanced educational institutions in Europe.
